Project for CSCI 373 - Image Processing

The final project for this class will be to create a program that demonstrates a minimum of eight techniques in image processing.

  1. Look at the sample code. (256X256 grayscale black lab photo)
  2. Your project should display the original image in the top left frame.
  3. The other frames should each show the original image processed in some way.
  4. You may leave the center and bottom right images as shown or may modify them if you prefer.
  5. One of your images should be processed with a kernel.
  6. Another one of your images should processed using a Minkowski operation.
  7. Code has been implemented in the first image to show a rectangular selection. This would be helpful for tiling or zooming.
  8. An interesting image can be produced by sorting each row of pixels (thanks to Swarthmore CSCI for suggesting this).
  9. Deliverables for the project.
    1. 11/14/05 Documentation for your project (stub functions, documentation for those functions). Code should compile and run but not necessarily display more than 3 images (40%)
    2. 11/30/05 Working code for 6 of 9 images. (20%)
    3. 12/05/05 Finished project. (40%)

If you have an idea for a final project that is different from this one, please come see me.
