Assignment 4 for CSCI 431 (worth 5 credit points)
Problem Description
In this assignment, you will investigate type equivalence in Ada.
Modify the Ada program provided on this link to better understand Ada's definition of
type equivalence. Remember that Ada is a strongly typed language that
uses static type checking. Investigate all non-trival questions
regarding equivalence among the types defined in the file provided
above. Your solution to this assignment should include the following:
- If a pair of types would be considered structurally equivalent,
report on their equivalence in Ada.
- Answer the following questions:
- Are your findings consistent with the material presented in the
text and lecture notes?
- How does Ada define type equivalence: does it use structural
equivalence, strict name equivalence, or loose name equivalence?
Running Ada
The gnat compiler for Ada is installed on Burnsville. Here is a brief set of instructions for
compiling a simple procedure or function (something that is not part
of a package and does not use multiple tasks).
