Early morning light shows this lone baboon crossing a stream

near our campsite in the Masai Mara. One hour later, as we were having

breakfast, thousands of wildebeest stampeded toward our camp and turned

off only at the last minute. It was September, and the wildebeest were

nervous as they were ready to begin their famous migration south to the

Serengeti Plains.
