-
Programming Projects:
-
At your convenience, go to the Computer Science Lab in
Robinson 004,
bring up one of the
PCs under Linux, and attempt
to login to your Computer Science account. If you have problems,
please contact your kindly instructor or the Computer Science
department office.
-
Assuming you got past the first step, open a terminal window.
Then enter the gedit command to launch the GNOME text
editor described in
Lab 1.
(If you prefer, you may use any
other available text editor.) Use the editor to write a
.java source file containing the Welcome
application described in Programming Exercise 1.1
of your text.
After you have written this file, use the javac and
java terminal commands to compile and run the application.
-
Now launch the NetBeans 5.0 IDE and create a new project
named Welcome, as described in class. Follow all the
defaults suggested by NetBeans, so that a class named
welcome.Main is automatically created for you.
Fill in the main() method of this class with the same
statements as your previous "hand-written" application. Compile
and run the application. Finally, create a JAR file of your
NetBeans project source folder as described in class.
