Instructions for FTPing homeworks without Netscape
These instructions will allow you to submit your homework to your
class ftp directory from home if you have the following:
- A PC running Windows 95, NT or 98.
- An Internet provider.
Instructions
- Copy the file that you want to transfer to the desktop on your
computer
- Connect to the Internet.
- From the Start button menu select Run.
- Enter the following in the small text window:
ftp ftp.cs.unca.edu
- In the ftp window that appears, enter ftp.
- Enter your email address as your password to complete your log on.
- Once you are logged on, go to your ftp directory by entering the
following:
cd pub/201/bruce111
replacing bruce111 with your own ftp account name.
- Check the message in the ftp window to make sure that you are in
your own ftp directory.
- Transfer the file that you want to submit by typing:
put filename
replacing filename with the complete DOS name of the
file you're transferring.
- Enter quit to leave the ftp window.
