Squeak has been installed on all of the Sun workstations (i.e., flat-rock, hendersonville, marshall, and brevard). If you set the DISPLAY environment variable, you can remote logon to anyone of the Suns from any other workstation and run Squeak (when doing this, be sure that the machine that you are working on supports an X-windows display---any workstation will do this).
Squeak requires an image file in which it saves your working environment. In order to run Squeak, you must have an initial copy of an image file, this can be created using the shell script:
/usr/local/bin/runsqueak
This script will check for the existence of a directory ~/CSCI431-squeak (in your home directory.) If it doesn't find the directory (eg. the first time it runs), the script will create it, populate it with the files needed and then invoke the Squeak program.
In summary, to run Squeak, run the shell script: /usr/local/bin/runsqueak on a Sun workstation.
Follow the instructions on the attached page and submit a hardcopy of the file that you create as your solution to this part of the assignment.
