CSCI 107 Lab 5: Word Processing Using Word Perfect, Part II

This week we will learn about some of WordPerfect's more advanced features as described in Chapter 3 of your WordPerfect lab manual. Your instructor will discuss and demonstrate each of the techniques to be covered and then you will be given exercises from the manual to work during lab. The topics to be covered are as follows:

Lab Sections I--V

This material will be demonstrated in class; there are no assignments to be turned in that cover this material. By topic, the major objectives of these sections are as follows:

Inserting hard page breaks using Insert/Page Break
Inserting page numbers using Format/Page/Numbering
Cascading and Tiling document windows using Windows/Cascade and Windows/Tile Horizontal
Manipulating Text in multiple windows using the Edit menu options
Creating and Editing Footnotes using the Insert/Footnote menu options

Lab Section VI

Work the exercise entitled, "Module 6: Organizing Data With Outlines and Sorts" beginning on page 194 of your lab manual and ending with step 4 (added as described below) on page 201. There are two changes that you need to make to the lab exercise:

Add a step 4 to page 201. Step 4 should read: Save this document as Outline3 and then close it.
Do not work steps 1 through 5 on page 202.

Save the files as instructed on your floppy disk in the WP directory.

Lab Section VII

Work the exercise entitled, "Sorting" beginning on page 203 of your lab manual and ending with step 11 on page 208. Save the files as instructed on your floppy disk in the WP directory.

Lab Section VIII

Work the exercise entitled, "Creating Tables in WordPerfect" beginning on page 209 and ending with step 8 on page 215; omit step 7 on page 215. Save the file as instructed on your floppy disk in the WP directory.

Lab Section IX

Work the exercise entitled, "Adding Graphics Boxes" beginning on page 215 and ending with step 10 on page 222. Because we will work this exercise using different files than are used in the lab manual, make the changes indicated below to the exercise in the manual:

Change step 2 on page 215 to read: Copy t:\csci\lab5\dogs.wpd to the WP directory on your floppy disk. Open your copy of dogs.wpd in WordPerfect.
Change step 3 on page 216 to read: Select the directory t:\csci\lab5
Change step 4 on page 216 to read: Select the file dogs.tif
Omit step 5 on page 217.
Change step 9 on page 217 to read: Type "dogs not pigs"
Change step 11 on page 217 to read: Save the file as Dogs1.wpd
Change step 6 on page 220 to read: Save the file as Dogs2.wpd
Change step 12 on page 221 to read: Save the file as Dogs3.wpd
Change step 8 on page 222 to read: Resave the document as Dogs3.wpd
Omit step 9 on page 222.
