First start by reading the rules for the IEEE SoutheastCon 2013 student hardware competition.
Then, in grounds of three to five people, where groups of four or five must contain both engineering and computer science students, propose a way to modularize the robot design so that it can be developed by teams. Try to define an ”interface“ between the modules. Also, think about any dependencies between these modules and the teams developing them.
Come to class next week prepared to present (about ten minutes) your modularization.
