Internet lab 5 -- CSCI 107

One of the challenges of the Internet is finding the information you want. There are many Internet search engines. The one we'll discuss is Digital's Altavista.

Simple search

First, read Altavista's help page for simple search. Now perform a search for information lodging about lodging in some nearby town, such as Waynesville or Hendersonville. Remember that lodging may include motels, hotels, or bed and breakfasts.

Advanced search

Read Altavista's help page for advanced search. Repeat your search, but this time use some of Altavista's advanced features. An example of this would be using:

• NC OR "North Carolina"

to match our fair state.
