Welcome to the Uwharrie National Forest Plan Revision Website
On March 11, 2010, the U.S.D.A. Forest Service issued a Notice of Intent (NOI) in the Federal Register to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement and Revised Plan for the Uwharrie National Forest. The Forest Service, together with the public, began revising the Uwharrie Forest Plan in 2005. Proposed Uwharrie Plans were published for public comment in 2007 and again in 2009. However, the federal regulations which guide the planning process have changed. We plan to build on the good collaborative contributions made by our stakeholders in previous planning efforts while also using the environmental impact statement process to develop a new proposed Uwharrie Plan that fully meets the requirements of the original 1982 planning regulations. The 60-day comment period on the NOI has now ended and copies of all comments received are posted here along with the Forest's preliminary thoughts on how it intends to incorporate these comments into the draft Uwharrie Plan and and DEIS which should be issued for additional public review and comment later this year.
