Cheoah Point and Van Hook Glade Campgrounds Remain Closed for Repairs
| Cheoah Point campground in Graham County and Van Hook Glade
campground in Macon County will remain closed to the public until sometime
later this summer. Both campgrounds are undergoing major
renovations. The Forest had hoped to have both facilities open to the
public by Memorial Day. Due to construction delays, it now looks like
Van Hook Glade campground will not reopen until the middle of the summer at the
earliest. Cheoah Point campground is expected to open September 1,
2006. However, please call ahead of time to the Cheoah District at
828-479-6431 to confirm that it has reopened. The Forest Service apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause recreation visitors to the Nantahala National Forest. |
