Snowbird Creek Area

The Snowbird Creek area is located in Graham County and is close to the town of Robbinsville.  The area is easily accessible by car but requires hiking to the upper section of the Creek.  Snowbird Creek provides trout fishing opportunities with stocked trout (Rainbow, Brown and Brook) in the lower section of the Creek and Native Brook trout fishing in the upper section of Snowbird. 

Access:  From Robbinsville take US 129 north 1.1 miles, turn left on State Road 1116.  Go 3.5 miles to SR1127 and turn right. Continue down this road to the Snowbird trailhead, which will take you to the upper section of Snowbird Creek.

Snowbird Creek Picnic area is located approximately 1.3 miles down SR1127.  There are also designated camping sites within the area along SR 1127.

Camping:  There are designated campsites in the Snowbird area with grills for cooking and a picnic and swimming area.  There are portable restroom facilities but no potable water.  There are no fees associated with the camping and picnic sites in the Snowbird area.

Comments:  This area is not heavily used but provides great sport fishing for trout fisherman. 

Snowbird Creek

Snowbird Creek is classified by the NCWRC (North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission) as "wild trout waters" from its headwaters to the old railroad junction, and  “hatchery supported trout waters” from the old railroad juntion to its mouth.. In hatchery supported waters there is no size limit or bait restrictions.  The creel limit is seven trout per day. 

Species Present:  Brook trout (wild in upper section of creek), rainbow trout and brown trout.

Seasons:  Snowbird Creek is open to fishing year-round.
