Panthertown Creek is located on the Highlands Ranger District and managed by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission under the “Wild Trout Waters-catch and release, single hook, artificial lures only” classification.  This area provides back country fishing opportunities for the angler.

Access:  From Highlands take Highway 64 East.  Continue through Cashiers into the Sapphire community.  Turn left onto NC1121.  At the third river crossing is Panthertown Creek.   

Camping: Primitive camping is allowed on forest service lands throughout the Panthertown  area except where “no camping” signs are posted.

Species Present:  Native Brook Trout (wild)

Season: Panthertown creek streams are all managed under catch and release.  Only artificial lures with one single hood are permitted.  These waters are marked with blue and gold signs.
