Brice Creek is located in Craven County, and is close to New Bern and Pollocksville and offers some of the finest blackwater boating and fishing in North Carolina. The area is easily accessible by car; however, most anglers and river-users prefer traveling these waters by boat, using Brice Creek Landing as their starting point. Brice Creek Landing is a developed (Forest Service) boat launch site with ample parking and restroom facilities. There is no fee to launch a boat at this facility. The Brice Creek Canoe Trail system follows parts of upper Brice Creek and its tributaries.
Access: From
New Bern, follow Highway 70 East to SR 1101 (Riverdale Road) on the right.
Follow SR 1101 to Forest Road 170. Turn
right onto Forest Road 170; turn right onto Forest Road 610.
Follow to Brice Creek Landing
From Pollocksville, follow SR 1004 (Island Creek Road) to
SR 1101 (Riverdale Road). Bear
right onto SR 1101 and follow to Forest Road 170.
Turn left onto Forest Road 170, then right onto Forest Road 610.

Camping:
There are no developed Forest Service Recreation Areas near Brice Creek;
however, primitive camping is allowed on Forest Service lands throughout the
Brice Creek area, except where signed “no camping”. Exceptions to this rule may occur along major Forest Service
roads, where primitive campsites have been designated and signed to protect
water quality and other natural resources.
Comments: This
area is extremely popular among local anglers because of the high quality
blackwater fishing opportunities available. This area is also a great place to watch wildlife and look for
interesting plants. Ospreys and
egrets are common, as are other shore birds.
It also provides opportunities to see several reptiles in the wild such
as large turtles, snakes, and alligators. Please
remember to treat these animals with respect.

Brice Creek offers some if the finest blackwater bass
fishing around. The area is
extremely scenic, but the creek braids it’s way around several islands
upstream of the landing, which can get confusing—be careful.
Species Present:
largemouth bass, pickerel, gar (difficult to catch), catfish, and numerous
sunfish.
Seasons: Brice Creek is open to fishing year-round.
